The evaluation of moisture and chloride content of concrete is a crucial phase for the diagnosis of corroded structures in the context of heritage preservation. The use of non-destructive techniques (NDT) allows to carrying out an effective diagnosis. Electromagnetic waves in the microwaves frequencies are recognized as a powerful tool for moisture evaluation of dielectric materials as concrete. The goal of this study is to develop an optimal tool for the evaluation of moisture content on real structures based on electromagnetic waves at frequencies range of 1 to 3 GHz. Numerical simulations of patch antennas were done for optimal design and frequency. A comparison with measurements in air and on concrete having various moisture contents indicated good effectiveness of the developed antennas.Read less <
