Lithium thioborate glasses and crystals are interesting materials for the study of glass structure and ionic conduction. The structure of two crystalline phases existing in this system, Li3BS3 and Li6B10S18, is described, as well as that of the (1-x)B2S3.xLi2S glasses. The real charge carried by sulphur atoms is determined using x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy and related to the unusual increase of the dc conduction activation energy with the modifier content. The question of the mobile ion sites is addressed using far infrared spectroscopy...Read less <
