The Gd3Fe3Al2O12 compound was synthesized at 1200 °C by solid state reaction and subjected to a high-energy ball milling process. Various parameters such as milling time, annealing treatment at several temperatures, and diameter of the stainless steel balls were investigated and their influence was correlated to scanning electron microscopy images, specific surface area measurements and magnetic properties. The hydrodynamic size and the grain morphology of the milled compound appear to be very much dependent on the diameter of the milling balls, whereas the magnetic properties are only sensitive to the milling time...Read less <
