In this presentation I will examine the intersubjectivities between reproduction, nationalism and population politics during communist Romania and its pronatalist regime, as well as their postcommunist legacies. The paper is based on my dissertation research on the social memory of abortion in communist Romania (2005-2010) and on ethnographic fieldwork in progress in South-West of France that investigates reproductive health practices of Romanian Women immigrants, between past and present.Read less <
