We have determined the equation of state of nuclear matter according to relativistic non-linear models. In particular, we are interested in regions of high density and/or high temperature, in which the thermodynamic functions have different behaviours depending on which model one used. As applications, we have determined the maximal mass of neutron stars and studied the process of two-pion annihilation into e+e– pairs in dense and hot matter. We have found that these two observables are strongly sensitive to the nonlinear self-coupling terms of the Lagragian.< Réduire
