It is well know that the Anglo-Gascon union resulting from the 1152 favours granted to the marriage of Alienor, Duchess of Aquitaine ti Henry II, King of England, gave a decisive boost to the Bordeaux vineyards. This alliance, which lasted for ever three centuries, generated the first Golden Age of the Bordeaux area vineyards. Historians have been studying the economical and political aspects for a long time. But considering this medieval vineyard, who has been taking care of its geography, its people, great gentlemen and bourgeois vineyard owners, who have given value to one of the greatest wine producing territories in the world thanks to their know-how. How did this first vineyard announce the great “revolution’ of the 17th and 18th centuries? This is a renewed approach to the Bordeaux vineyard in the Middle Age based on recent research.
