| dc.description.abstractEn | The conference will take as its starting point the testimony of a French traveler who disembarked in Montevideo in August 1808. An advance of the research on the migratory experience of thousands of Basques and Bearnese who arrived in the Eastern Republic in the 19th century will be presented, based on the archives of the commissioners of emigration, diplomatic reports and individual testimonies of Uruguayan families linked to France.The conference will take as its starting point the testimony of a French traveler who landed in Montevideo in August 1808.
