| dc.description.abstract | Le <i>pais amphithalês</i> était un jeune garçon choisi en raison de son appartenance à une famille dont le père et la mère étaient toujours en vie pour accomplir certains rites religieux. Si le <i>pais amphithalês</i> a longtemps été envisagé comme un gage de fertilité agricole et de fécondité humaine, le présent article entend en proposer une autre interprétation : en tenant compte du contexte athénien, notamment celui du Ve s. av. J.-C. où se sont affirmés avec force les mythes de Thésée et d’Érichthonios, on verra les liens symboliques qu’entretenait le <i>pais amphithalês</i> avec Athéna, la cité et l’autochtonie. | |
| dc.description.abstractEn | The <i>pais amphithalês</i> was a young boy chosen because he belonged to a family in which his father and his mother were still alive, to perform some religious rites. Although the <i>pais amphithalês</i> has long been considered as a guarantee of both agricultural and human fertility, this article aims at suggesting another interpretation: taking into account the Athenian context, especially that of the 5th century B.C. (when the myths of Theseus and Erichthonios were forcefully asserted), we shall see the symbolic links that the <i>pais amphithalês</i> maintained with Athena, the city and autochthony. | |
