During his/her academic path, every engineering student undergoes at least one internship in an industrial/professional environment. As for biomedical engineering, internships are particularly very important because of the precision and safety dimension that students are supposed to deal with. Security, sensitivity and accuracy are concerns that must be closely applied while designing, maintaining, executing or adapting any human-related system or device. Internship activities, as part of academic curricula, have been required in all accreditation programs. However, the correlation between the internship outcomes and the objectives of the engineering programs is not emphasized enough even in these accreditation processes. Thus, this paper will propose some Key Performance Indicators to evaluate the internship of the student and to be able to measure the success of the internship's outcome in order to continuously improve the links between the theoretical and the practical learning. Hence, three main objectives were set for the internship and six KPIs were proposed and linked to these objectives. © 2019 IEEE.
