En

Climate changes are expected to greatly modify the population dynamic of plant pathogen. Understanding how pathogens are able to adapt to modifications of their environment is crucial to anticipate the emergence of new disease epidemics. Fusarium graminearum is one of the main causal agents of the Fusarium Head Blight, a worldwide disease affecting cereal cultures, whose presence can lead to contaminated grains with chemically stable and harmful mycotoxins. In order to characterize the adaptive potential of F. graminearum, we will focus on the phenotypic plasticity which is the ability of a genotype to express different phenotypes depending on the environment and maybe the first response to the environment. First, the phenotypic plasticity will be characterized under fluctuating abiotic conditions (temperature, water availability, oxidative) on a collection of F. graminearum strains. We will focus on mycotoxins productions and growth kinetics as traits. Then, the genetic determinism of the plasticity will be studied through population genomics approach using a Genome Wide Association Study (GWAS) by whole genome sequencing (WGS). To our knowledge, this is the first GWAS approach applied to toxigenic fungi characterizing phenotypic plasticity implemented to date.
