dc.description.abstractEnHighlights - No directional anisotropy in the root anchorage was detected. - Thinning surprisingly decreases the root-soil mechanical performances for a given tree biomass when compared to control trees. - The biomass allocation is adapted to the reinforcement of the mechanical weakest points, in the case of beech poles, the stem and not the root system.
