| dc.description.abstract | Peu de travaux académiques récents portent sur les usages de l’alcool au Lesotho. Cet article consiste en un positionnement de recherche et se fonde sur une collecte approfondie et une synthèse de la littérature sur le sujet depuis le xixe siècle. Il démontre l’intérêt de développer le champ de la recherche en sciences sociales ayant pour objet l’alcool dans le Lesotho contemporain. L’étude de l’influence des facteurs socio-historiques sur l’établissement des normes et des usages en matière d’alcool inclut les dimensions économique, politique et géographique liés à son enclavement et à sa dépendance à l’Afrique du Sud. L’objectif est de saisir les enjeux de la médicalisation et de la politisation d’une pratique de production et de consommation d’alcool historiquement ancrée. | |
| dc.description.abstractEn | Few recent academic works refer to the use of alcohol in Lesotho. As a position paper, this article is based on an extensive collection and synthesis of the literature since the 19th century. It demonstrates the interest in developing the field of social science research on alcohol in contemporary Lesotho. Studying the influence of socio-historical factors on the establishment of norms and practices of alcohol includes the economic, political and geographic dimensions linked to its landlocked situation and its dependence on South Africa. The aim is to understand the challenges posed by the medicalization and politicization of an historically entrenched practice of alcohol production and consumption. | |
