Over the past two years, a world-changing virus had profound impacts on societies and individuals lived experiences, bringing acute uncertainty. Research methodologies have also been highly disrupted by the persistent, intrinsic uncertainties and changes brought by the global health context. Some researchers focused onthe effects of the pandemic but the latter also directly impacted how research was produced; research projects which required presence and mobility in the field wereobstructed. Movement and travel restrictions, constrained by bureaucratic obstacles, have interrupted and sometimes transformed research. This necessary change in the research is the topic of this paper. I reflect on the situation of uncertainty and risk management around my Ph.D. research and how it was impacted. I end by presenting one shift in the methodology as a direct adaptation.
