dc.description.abstractDans le cadre d’une approche d’économie politique, l’article propose une analyse de la construction sociale des maladies et des marchés dans le champ de la santé mentale, en lien avec les débats récents sur la classification des maladies mentales relancés autour de la publication du DSM-5. En prenant l’exemple du trouble du déficit de l’attention et de l’hyperactivité (TDAH), l’analyse du travail politique des différents acteurs (firmes pharmaceutiques, associations de familles de patients, assurances sociales, école, État, système de santé, etc.) permet de préciser leurs rôles à travers l’analyse comparative de la France et des États-Unis. L’étude de la production du discours scientifique sur la maladie précise qu’au-delà des questions éthiques, c’est une économie du financement de la recherche et de la publication scientifique qui participe au jeu des acteurs.
dc.description.abstractEnWithin the framework of a political economy approach, the paper analyses the social construction of both markets and illnesses in the field of mental health, linked with the recent debates associated to the publication of the latter classification of mental disorders (DSM-5). Illustrated by the example of attention deficit and hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), this way of analysing the political work carried out by different actors (pharmaceutical firms, parent of patient associations, the school system, the state, the wealth system, etc.) discerns their respective roles and, in particular, enables research to understand considerable differences between the French and US cases. More than just enlightening ethical questions in the field of mental health, studying the production of scientific discourse about a specific illness identifies the economy of research financing and of scientific publication that drives actor interactions and interdependencies.
