In the late Soviet Union and post-Soviet Russia, public history invited itself into schools through a unique and underexplored phenomenon called “school museums.” Many Russian secondary schools have their own museum and, even though they are located within the school buildings and can be used as curricula support, they fulfill larger functions involving different publics. This chapter discusses various dimensions of the relationships between Russian school museums and the public.
