| dc.description.abstract | La fouille du rempart de Châteaumeillant, réalisée entre 2016 et 2018, permet de proposer une restitution complète de la fortification massivequi protège cet <i>oppidum</i> biturige. L’analyse archéologique montre que le rempart massif n’est pas un simple tas de terre extrait du fossé, mais au contraire un ouvrage complexe constitué de plusieurs parties. Cet article propose de restituer le projet global de cet énorme ouvrage défensif quirévèle la grande maitrise des concepteurs dans le domaine des propriétés des matériaux, de la géométrie, des mathématiques et de l’hydraulique.L’ingénierie militaire a été mise en oeuvre à Châteaumeillant pour répondre à une poliorcétique efficace dans le contexte de la guerre des Gaules. | |
| dc.description.abstractEn | The excavation of the Châteaumeillant rampart, carried out between 2016 and 2018, makes it possible to propose a complete reconstruction ofthe massive fortification that protects this biturige <i>oppidum</i>. The archaeological analysis shows that the massive rampart is not a simple moundof earth extracted from the ditch, but on the contrary a complex work made up of several parts. This article proposes to reconstruct the overallproject of this enormous defensive work, which reveals the great mastery of the builders in the field of the properties of materials, geometry,mathematics and hydraulics. Military engineering was implemented at Châteaumeillant to respond to an efficient poliorcetic in the context ofthe Gallic War. | |
