Abstract

Alors que l’État français accorde davantage de respect et d’autonomie aux sociétés des territoires du Pacifique qu’il a pliées sous le joug colonial, on constate à Wallis (Polynésie occidentale) le poids grandissant de l’administration française dans l’articulation entre socialisation, éducation et reconduction du monde social. Dans un contexte de mutations rapides, la généralisation de la langue française doit être questionnée au regard de ce qui fonde cette société et son devenir. Cette généralisation tend, en effet, à effacer les formes locales d’éducation et de socialisation primaire visant une parfaite compréhension des relations sociocosmiques en contexte, l’appropriation des structures de l’action, plus généralement, une bonne maîtrise de l’idéologie sémiotique. English Abstract

While the French State has recently granted more respect and autonomy to the societies of the Pacific territories that it submitted to colonial domination, we note in Wallis (Western Polynesia) the growing weight of the French administration in the socialization for, education about the social world. In a context of rapid change, the increasing use of the French language must be questioned with regard to the foundations and future of this society. The use of French tends to erase local forms of education and primary socialisation which create the conditions for understanding Wallis structures of action and socio-cosmic relations in context, and more generally, for mastering the culture’s semiotic ideology.
