This contribution aims to explore relational values that children construct with biodiversity when they play in nature. This research is based on an interdisciplinary approach: social and cultural geography of the environment, children’s geographies, environmental psychology and biodiversity conservation. According to this literature, place attachment is an important aspect of relational values (Chan et al., 2016; Pascual et al., 2022), particularly concerning the feeling of connection to nature. However, this aspect remains underexplored, especially concerning children and young people (Chawla, 2020). The aim of this presentation is to address this issue by demonstrating that a geographical approach to the ways in which children appropriate space when they play in nature, by building huts for example, makes it possible to study the diversity of relationships that children develop with nature.< Leer menos
