We propose a mathematical spatial and age structured model to describe the spatial spread of Salmonella among laying hens in industrial hen houses. We provide a mathematical study of traveling pulses of infection and describe a minimal speed property for such a problem. The dependence with respect to some heterogeneities of the medium is also discussed. Finally, based on biological data, the parameters of the model are estimated to provide some information on the propagation speed of the bacteria.Read less <
