| dc.description.abstract | La prolifération des grands domaines agricoles en Afrique pendant l’Empire romain est un phénomène d’une importance indéniable dont la production remplissait une fonction cruciale pour l’État. Toutefois, on peine à expliquer ses origines et ses premières expressions par la rareté de la documentation précédant le IIe siècle p.C. Dans la présente étude, je souhaite revenir sur les différentes hypothèses qui ont été établies à propos du développement de la grande propriété dans la dernière période carthaginoise, pour ensuite aborder les propositions sur l’origine et l’essor des grands domaines fonciers après la conquête romaine. Je finirai par présenter un projet d’outil numérique : l’Atlas des domaines dans le Maghreb antique qui fournira un panorama exhaustif des propriétés foncières selon les époques servant à mieux comprendre, entre autres choses, la genèse du phénomène. | |
| dc.description.abstractEn | The proliferation of large landed estates in North-Africa during the Roman Empire is an undeniably important phenomenon whose production served as a crucial function for the state. However, its origins and early manifestations are difficult to explain due to the scarcity of documentation prior to the 2nd century BC. In this paper I will review the various hypotheses that have been established about the development of large-scale property in the later Carthaginian period, and then address proposals on the origin and development of large land holdings after the Roman conquest. I will end by presenting a digital tool project: the Atlas of Landed Estates in the Ancient Maghreb, which will provide an exhaustive panorama of landed property according to the periods, serving to better understand, among other things, the genesis of the phenomenon. | |
