dc.description.abstractEnThe ferroelectric transition in KTa0.6Nb0.4O3 (KTN) was investigated by light scattering measurements up to 1300 cm-1 as a function of temperature. A careful analysis of the temperature dependence of the optical phonon lines before and after the cubic - tetragonal transition shows. anomalies at the ferroelectric - paraelectric transition. This transition is proceeded in the cubic phase by the formation of precursor clusters as in very dilute KTN crystals. The precursor clusters process can be induced by the relaxation of correlated off-centred TaS+ or NbS+ ions.
