Read less <

A preliminary summary on the lateglacial and the beginning of the Holocene of the Savoie is proposed, based on a quantitative analysis of the lithic industries. The results of the statistical treatment reveal the existence of several industrial features in stratigraphical sequence : upper Magdalenian, Azilian and Mesolithic. A technological, typometrical and typological study shows the strong internal variability of the Azilian, on the contrary to the upper Magdalenian more homogeneous, and his gradual evolution to the Mesolithic, in which two principal technical innovations are recognized. The review of the palaeoclimatological framework underlines the quick succession of oscillations during the lateglaical and leading to the postglacial, and permits, in accordance with the absolute dating, to propose a model for the occupation of this area. Finally, a conclusion reminds the most important results of this study and suggests to extend the analysis to the whole data which are available on the southern Jura and the northern Alpes.Read less <
