We have studied the dynamics of the LC in periodic structures for elliptically polarized wave beyond the optical Freedericksz transition. We have shown that if the number of layers is large enough, the static solution will become dynamically stable for the whole range of its existence. In that sense the periodic structure can stabilize the reorientation dynamics. In the periodic oscillation regime the transmission coefficient exhibits sharp dynamical resonances, thus offering a novel and attractive opportunity to design new ail-optically tunable photonic bandgap structures based on infiltrated liquid crystal materials.< Leer menos
