This paper deals with the application of remeshed particle methods for the simulation and control of wakes behind obstacles. We consider passive as well as active control strategies. Active control consists of jets at the boundary and we show how enhancing natural 3D instabilities of the flow can reduce the drag. Passive control strategies consist of porous coatings on the obstacle and we investigate optimal locations of the porous coating to regularize the wake downstream and reduce the drag.Read less <
