All kinds of teaching and learning activity require interpretive skills, i.e. the ability to interpret elements of experience in a joint cognitive (understanding something), performative (playing, acting out a piece) and translational (switching from one mode of semiotic expression to another) sense. Creative, transdisciplinary pedagogy is neither odd nor extravagant: it has the power to unleash the rich interpretive potential of all participants in both secondary and higher education. A concrete illustration is given: designing and teaching a workshop that uses embodiment as a vehicle for literary interpretation.Read less <
